Want Assurance? Love - Part 2

In 1 John 4:7 - 5:4 John again exhorts his readers to love one another. Love is a sure sign of knowing God and being born of Him. In this lesson, we look at 4:7-16 in which John emphasizes love as proof of knowing God. John intermingles themes of love and confession, doctrine and practice, orthodoxy and orthopraxy. As John fights against the proto-Gnostic heretics in his own day, we must examine ourselves to see if we harbor gnostic attitudes ourselves.
