David and Johnathan were great friends and made a convenant together to honor each others' houses. David remembered and showed mercy on Mephibosheth. We are like Mephibosheth in that we are helpless and have nothing to offer the King. We are shown kindness by the Father for the sake of Christ. We have nothing to offer, but we eat at the Master's table.
