What is the source of suffering? How do we cope with suffering?

Text: Hebrews 2:9-10

Review / Connect: FROM the Supremacy of Christ in His Person: He is the Son, the image of God, God's heir, Creator, the One whom angels must worship and the highest expression of God's voice to men, TO the Supremacy of Christ in His work.

Five sub-hearings to dissect Hebrews 2:5-18

Thesis: Five reasons for Christ sufferings which are ultimately tied to the removal of our sufferings

  1. Christ's suffering through death was a prerequisite for His exaltation
  2. Christ's suffering through death was an effect of the Grace of God
  3. Christ's suffering through death were fitting to God
  4. Christ's suffering through death, were necessary to bring us to Glory
  5. Christ's suffering through death, were the instruments to perfect Him

Conclusion / Implications:

  1. Let us stop trying to avoid the unavoidable. Suffering is inescapable!
  2. Let us not despair before the unavoidable
  3. Jesus is the basis of any true biblical joy and sense of joy and worth
