Lucifer's Fall: Being a prophecy of the fall of the King of Babylon.

Intro: This passage refers to the fall of Lucifer, which I take to be the King of Babylon, not Satan. There are certainly lessons to learn about the great enemy, but the specific prophecy is about the downfall of Babylon and its arrogant king.

Idea: This passage teaches us that when enemies rise up agains the church that God Himself rises up to vindicate His own great name.

1. Reasons for God's Judgment on Babylon.
   a. Because God had shown mercy to Jacob
   b. Because of God's promise to send Christ
   c. Because of Babylon's arrogance
   d. Because of Lucifer's, or the King of Babylon's blasphemy

2. Consolation for the church. When enemies raise themselves against the church, they fight against God. And God fights against them for the vindication of His own great name. What was true for Old Testament Judah will also be true in the downfall of the eschatological Babylon, or all who allign themselves against Christ.
