Sifted: The Potential for Prayer
Luke 22:31-34; Psalm 42:1-5
Nothing appreciable ever happens in the Christian life apart from prayer.
Expresses our dependence on God
Experienced in our desperation
Three kinds of desperate people:
Those who know it and embrace it.
Those who do not know it.
Those who know it, but deny it.
Explanation of desperation (Psalm 42)
An active search.
A passion for His presence.
A longing for past intimacy.
Everything that happens in the Christian life has already been prayed for by Christ.
Personal—“Thee”
Past tense—“I have”
Powerful—“Your faith may not fail.”
