Jonah 1:3 Bible Study Jonah 1:3 The Bible tells us he's going down to Tarshish. "It's my life; I'm going to live it. I'll do what I want. I've got the money; I've got the will. I'll pay my fare; I'll go where I want. And this is what he decided to do. He went down into the bottom of that ship. And there he is, down there now in the bottom of that ship, saying, "I am running my own life; it's my life, I'll do as I want. And every one of us have a Tarshish in our lives, what we want to do with our lives. God has a will for your life just as surely as God had as will for Jonah's life. God has a will for your life today. Oh, but the cost of disobedience. The Bible says "Jonah paid the fare," and he really did. You will pay your way, dear friend; it costs to serve Satan. It costs every day. It costs every step of the way. There is the cost to other people. When a man of God disobeys God, not only does he hurt himself, he hurts those around him. The devil would like to get a Christian pastor, preacher, teacher, brother or sister anyone—any of you,to do wrong. Just like a great tree in a forest with a rotten heart, when it falls, it pulls down a lot of saplings and other things with it. The cost of disobedience. The cost to others. Oh, how many lives we hurt when we fail to live for the Lord Jesus Christ. God's sending His message to the winds of the Mediterranean, and that old Mediterranean Sea begins to churn and snort, and Romans 8:28 starts to work, that is, "All things work together for good to those love God." And in this case, in Jonah's case, this disobedient, reluctant prophet,God had to send a storm.God has a message that he wants delivered and HE needs you.
