National Judgment

It is a mistake to assume that national judgement is not coming, simply because national judgement is long delayed. The sins of Israel and Judah were great, and they continued for many years. God sent His prophets to call them to repentance, and they were ignored. Finally God dealt severely with His people, as He warned them He would. There is a striking prophecy in Genesis 15. God tells Abram that his descendants will be servants in a strange land, 'But in the 4th generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.' It is as if there were a cup of wrath for each nation that is continually being filled by their abominable actions, and eventually, the cup becomes full, and God's mercy can no longer hold back God's justice. The cup is simply too full. For a nation established on Biblical principles, we have descended a long way in a little over 200 years. It is frightening to think how fast God's cup of wrath can fill, when the blood of over 3000 aborted babies is being squeezed into it every day. How fast do blatant pornography, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, blasphemy, murder, child abuse and religious apostasy fill up God's cup of wrath? Perhaps, in a sense, every time a believer prays for America, a spoonful of wrath is tossed from the cup, and when a missionary leaves our shores, God's wrath is measurably decreased. But there is a point at which the cup is filling faster than Christians can empty it, and we may be there.
