Jesus' Embrace of the Gospel

Just because God commissions the preacher doesn't mean that the people will believe him. Only the Holy Ghost can convince sinners to believe God's word on the lips of his servants, and nobody otherwise can convince them of it.

God told Ezekiel that he must take God's words into his heart and preach them whether the people listened or not.

The Lord Jesus was sent by His Father, but Israel would not believe Him. They thought He was making up the Gospel message on His own.

It is hard enough to get people to believe that God has given you a word to deliver, but Jesus had a double challenge, for the words God gave Him to preach were to trust in Jesus Himself!

God told His Son Jesus to preach to Israel that they place all their trust in Himself as God's Messiah. Naturally, most of the people presumed Jesus was a delusional man, or self promoter, for whoever heard of anybody preaching trust in themselves for everlasting life!

Jesus clearly outlined the different witnesses to His preaching God's word. He stated that He didn't speak on His own, but because the Father had commanded Him what to speak.

He pointed out that John the Baptist bore witness to the truth about Jesus, that the Father Himself declared His Son's authority, that the Old Testament witnessed Christ's coming and ministry from on high, and that the works Jesus performed bore witness to His truth.

Yet, Israel rejected every single witness and refused to believe the words of Jesus that the Father had given Him.

The Words that God gave Jesus were wonderful words of life and salvation! Christ preached that He would deliver from everlasting judgment every one that trusted in Him!
