Lord's Day 52 The LORD Jesus Christ teaches us how to conclude our prayer
The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us to conclude our prayer looking forward to the day when He will come
down from heaven to judge the world:
1.we look forward…to OUR complete victory over OUR enemies
2.we celebrate – already today – JESUS’ victory over HIS enemies
3.we find OUR ONLY COMFORT in THE PROMISES OF THE GOSPEL
Introduction:
1 From what do we ask God to protect us when we conclude our prayer?
Point 1:
2 According to the catechism, what is a Christian life?
3 The devil has already been defeated; so is he still dangerous?
4 Does God tempt us, or does only Satan tempt us?
Point 2:
5 How do we expect kings and queens to behave? In what way is God a different king?
6 ‘Your is the kingdom and the power and the glory’ is a confession and also a prayer (or petition). What is
confessed and what is prayed for?
Point 3:
7 Why is it comforting for us to be able to say amen at the end of our prayers?
