Gospel Discernment (Jon's Last Sermon?)

237 ( 98 | 139 )

THIS MAY BE ONE OF JON'S VERY LAST MESSAGES.

FROM THE VIDEO UPLOAD

pray for my wife, lisa, and daughter, rachel, and also my mother-in-law, who lives in our household. please pray for sovereign grace baptist church in anniston alabama too.

'for our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.' 2 cor 4.17-18

it's not always as bad as this-- sometimes its worse, like early this morning, sometimes better, like it actually is now.

remember, christ jesus paid a debt he did not owe; we owe a debt we can not possibly pay; trust in christ alone, in who he is and what he has done. christ, and him crucified is the sum of the gospel.

[ADDED NOTE: Some may be unaware of the situation. In January 2008, Jon and family had to leave Scammon Bay, Alaska because of ailments that were thought to be ALS. After examination by the VA at Loma Linda, ALS could not be definitely determined and in the meantime, Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama extended a call, so Jon Cardwell has been pastor of SGBC since January 2009, the congregation fully realizing Jon's physical condition. The symptoms, which may be those due of PLS, the scarring of upper motor neurons (in the brain, whereas ALS is scarring of upper and lower motor neurons, both in the brain and spine), have caused Jon a very slow degradation until this point where muscle spasticity is severe enough to be in his neck, mouth and facial muscles.]
