Daniel's enemies laid a trap for him, where if Daniel continued to pray, he would be executed. Prayer was so important to Daniel that he was willing to face the lions' den to keep praying. Once the sentence had to be carried out, the king's heartbroken reaction speaks of the godly testimony of Daniel's service.
