Set Free

In this passage, Jesus was not dealing with a crazy man, but a man possessed with demons. Demons are angels who lost their place in Heaven when they chose to follow Satan. Hell is a place created by God for the Satan (also known as the Devil) and his demons. There are demons over all the earth, and some of them are territorial. Satan wants people to mess up their lives. God loves people. Satan cannot just attack us; he must have us to cooperate with him. When we sin against God, we allow Satan and the demons to get a foothold. People who are demon possessed may have supernatural resistance against restraint, are restless, become unnaturally noisy, lack clothing, and self-harming. Satan uses all kinds of things to get people to harm themselves. We need to take every thought captive unto the Lord Jesus Christ. Satan came to steal, kill, and destroy. We should be able to tell people the good things that Christ has done for us.
