How Long, O Lord?

Daniel 8 is full of amazing details about the rise of first the Persian Empire and then the Greek Empire of Alexander the Great. But not even Alexander is the focus of this chapter - the focus is on a king who tried to overcome the saints, to destroy the worship of God, and to set up a false and idolotrous worship in the Temple. But God foretold that even though this 'abomination of desolation' would remain for a while, in a few years this false and blasphemous worship would be cast out and the usurper would come to nothing.
