Why Should I Care that the Law is Dead to Me and that I am Dead to the Law?

I. The Law is Forever Dead to Us. But Are We Dead to the Law? Or, Free! Unbound! Not Married, Not Obligated to the Law as a Covenant of Works because We are Married to Christ and Bound to God in the Covenant of Grace (7:4-6)

II. The law does not oppose grace, nor is it in any way contrary to the gospel (7:7ff).

III. The source of the lack of peace and the enmity in our heart is not the law. It’s the way we view and use the law. The law is not a covenant of works in and of itself, but we turn the law into a covenant of works every time we do not go first to Christ (7:4-8:14)
