God's Truth Debunks Secular Humanism

We in the western world are living in a time when the reality of objective truth has been denied. Personal freedom is the prevailing philosophy of the day. We are familiar with some of these ideas under the title of secular humanism. Basically a secular humanist is going to say that all the answers are found in man's reason and in the exercise of his thinking. We should understand that the roots of this philosophy go back to the enlightenment movement, which began in the 18th century. The movement became very powerful in Germany in the 19th century. It emphasized the power of human reason and it had a skeptical view of any kind of authority outside of the individual human being. Most of its representatives rejected the Christian dogma and were hostile to Catholicism and Protestant orthodoxy. The movement eventually led to modernism and liberalism in our own country as men with their reason decided that we don't have an authoritative scripture.
