I. Last Argument for the Necessity of the Resurrection

A.The “otherness” of God’s Kingdom: “flesh and blood cannot inherit” it

B.The imperishable nature of God’s Kingdom: “the perishable cannot inherit the imperishable

II.The Mystery: the occasion of the resurrection.

A. Mystery “musterion” in NT language is to unveil something that was previously unknown or hidden.

B. The mystery (new revelation) is “…we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed…the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.”

III. The Final Shout of Triumph in the Resurrection

verse 54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality,

A. The indefinite future (not a “futurum exactum” – Robertson -. Paul did not know the exact date

B. The perishable takes on the imperishable and the mortal is dressed of immortality.

C. A redundant repetition for emphasis. We will be transformed and become immortal.

D. Sin will be gone forever!

Death is the salary of sin! Its pain will be removed

IV.The Encouragement of the Resurrection

verse 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

A. Hang-on: steadfast and unmovable lit.: be settled! Stay sedentary but firm!

B. Abounding in activity for the Lord: be lavished in your work for the Lord.

C. Your toil is not in vain
Labor in the Lord abundantly
>Just do it in and for Him!
