Heaven & Hell, Part 2

Many of us are so earthbound that we forget we are heaven bound. We seldom think about heaven because we are preoccupied with earth. We are just passing through. We are strangers in a strange land. This old world is crumbling but thank God it is not our home! We should yearn for that place that right now we need faith to see. Where is your heart? C.S. Lewis wrote, "Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither." The good news for the believer is that the paradise we lost will be permanently regained! The curse will be completely reversed. "And they all lived happily ever after" is true for the genuine Christian! Philip Yancey once observed "Percentages don't apply to eternity, of course; but for the sake of argument, assume that 99 percent of our existence will take place in heaven. Isn't it a little bizarre that we simply ignore heaven, acting as if it doesn't matter?" The world focuses on retirement, the preacher says: "you're going to die." The Christian focuses on death, but the preacher says: "you're going to heaven!" "Let me beg you, not to rest contented with the commonplace religion that is now so prevalent." (Adoniram Judson)
