God can do what He wants, when He wants, however He wants, with whoever He wants, in whatever way He wants, for whatever reason He wants and who are we to think we can change Him or stop Him. I'd encourage to rejoice in this news and be grateful He's clued you in on who He is and what He can do. Don't fight it or fret over it... surrender to Him or you'll find out the hard way, just how wrong your assumptions of Him have been.

We see again and again that God is sovereign in His mercy and His judgement. He does what He wants, when He wants, however He wants, with whoever He wants. If we're not careful, we'll let a world around us or the atmosphere of a nation dictate and manipulate our thoughts of who God is... and neglect the best two sources He's ever given to reveal Himself to us. What are they? Himself and His word... as He told the people in Micah's day, "does not my words do good to them who walk uprightly?" God speaks... but it only profits those who believe that He is God and rewards those that diligently seek Him…
