God's creation, sanctuary and blessing

Psalm 24.1-6

God the Creator and Sustainer

I. God's Creation (verses 1-2)

A. God is the earth's owner (verse 1)(Ps 16.1). Everyone has the responsibility to serve their Maker.

B. God is the earth's originator. (verse 2)(Gen 1.6-9)(Job 38.4-11)

II. God's Sanctuary (verses 3-4)

Worship draws our minds to the sanctuary as the place of worship.

A. The sanctuary as a place of height. (Hebrews 12.18-21)(Ecclesiastes 5.1-2).

B. The sanctuary as a place of holiness. Four sample characteristics of true worshippers (verse 4)

(a) Clean hands.
(b) Pure hearts. (Psalm 51.10).
(c) Avoiding vanity (Psalm 135.15-18).
(d) Not swearing deceitfully (Mt 5.33-37).

III. God's blessing (verse 5)

Two reassurances for our comfort:

A. The blessing received (Matthew 16.26).

B. The righteousness received.

Conclusion (verse 6)

Blessing to those that receive & believe God's covenant promises (Matthew 7.7).
