The casting of lots is a mysterious exercise in ignorance by our 21st century worldview; however, as I discuss in today's lesson the actions of the pagan sailors was more reasonably consistent with their worldview than we are with our worldview. Jonah becomes a missionary to those he used and endangered to escape God's will while refusing to be a missionary to the Assyrians. Yes, Jonah is just like us today, if we would only see its truths.
