Matthew 27:27-44
Series Matthew (2007)
Handed over by Pilate, Jesus is mocked and abused by the soldiers, nailed to the Cross and then reviled by the Jewish leaders. We will consider the eternal implications of these things and see that the King of the Jews was murdered by the leadership of His own people because they refused to take First Coming prophecies LITERALLY. This should cause us concern as the major denominations and their seminaries refuse to take Second Coming prophecies LITERALLY. Thus, just as apostasy set in at the time of the First Advent, so, too, is apostasy setting in as we approach the Second Advent of Jesus Christ. But in the face of all this, we must focus on Christ crucified and be overcome with thanksgiving for His finished work to His praise and glory.
