Baptism is a picture of our death to the old man and being raised to newness of life. Baptism pictures salvation through judgment. We are saved because Christ was baptized with God's wrath on our behalf. Baptism is not a saving ordinance; it is an outward expression of what has happened inside. It is a response to God, portraying the gospel that we have believed. Baptism declares Jesus' victory over evil, through His resurrection.
