To Fulfil All Righteousness
Series Sermons from the Road
One of the ways that Primitive Baptists differ from Christians of other orders is in our belief and affirmation that Jesus Christ fulfilled ALL righteousness on behalf of his covenant people (Matthew 3:15). This was part of the job description for the office of Savior and a non-negotiable requirement to be considered a "good" yea even a "great shepherd." Other aspects of the job description of "savior' include the purging of sins (Hebrews 1:3), redemption (Hebrews 9:12), perfection and sanctification (Hebrews 10:10-14). The gospel proclaims that all of these things are past accomplishments of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only when one embraces the truth that Christ fulfilled ALL righteousness do God's people find "rest" in for their souls (Matthew 11:28). Truly the work of Christ is a finished work and this is all our hope and all our salvation.
