Gospel Light Dispels Darkness
Series Expositions From Deuteronomy
120
"If a man has committed a sin worthy of death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is [a]accursed of God), so that you do not defile your land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance" (Deuteronomy 21:22-23).
Connecting Old Testament and New Testament dots, this message expounds Deuteronomy 21:22-23, reviews Joshua's application of this text in Joshua 8:28-29, discusses the reference to the text by the Jews in John 19:31, and explains Paul's quotation of the text in Galatians. In all of this, we are exhorted to see Christ who bore the curse for us and sheds gospel light on us.
