022 At Home in God's Household

Before our eyes, in this modern day, is the sad spectacle of a myriad of 'churches', that is; buildings filled with members who have bypassed God's filter. If the church is God's household, surely, it is family members who are welcome there. Just as parents guard their families in the safety of their homes, so church leadership should ensure a place of safety for members of God's household in the church. This is often not the case. The doors of the church are open in the wrong way. Anyone from the street can come in and be considered a member by an unspoken contract. There is no earnest care in upholding the purity and unity of God's family.

In this message, Christian speaks to a number of people who send him through the filter of church membership and through the discipleship process that church membership includes. They consider how his life has changed, his desires and his love for other people. God's people are distinct in these areas. Questions in these areas help church leaders to discern who should be welcomed into the church and who should not.

May God grant us the grace to uphold the purity of His household, the church, by being as earnest about her as Christ was at Calvary.
