Our chapter finds Israel as a group of rebels before the King they had rebelled against. Samuel's innocence, in itself, just condemned their iniquity. They needed an intercessor, and they had one in Samuel, the man God had called to stand between. All this is a picture of our situation as sinners before God in need of Christ the Mediator.
