Prepare for Consecration

139

After the siege of Rome in 1849, Garibaldi said to his soldiers, “Men, all our efforts against superior forces have been unavailing. I have nothing to offer you but hunger and thirst, hardship and death. But I call on all who love their country to join with me."

Heed the call of devotion. The call that Hannah herself might issue forth if she were alive today, “Brothers and sisters, all our efforts against the flesh and this world are unavailing. I have nothing to offer you but hunger and thirst, hardship and death. But I call on all who love Christ to join with me."

Such is the cost of the sacrifice of devotion!
