James #19: Teachers, Bits and Rudders

James begins his section on the tongue with an unexpected application: teachers. He cautions his readers that teaching is a most dangerous undertaking for they need to rightly handle the Word of God. Plus, the constant use of the tongue means they could sin very easily. He then goes on to compare the outsize impact of the tongue to the bit in a horse's mouth and a ship's rudder. No wonder the tongue can boast of its great effect!
