The Lord is My Shepherd

27

Introduction: Luke 24:44 "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you – that everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Driving Question: Why is Jesus all that I need?

  1. His Provision. Psalm 23:1-3

    A. Nourishment- green pastures - still water. Psalm 23:2, "I am the bread of life..."John 6:35 Satisfaction found in Christ.

    B. Rest - lie down. Rest in Christ's finished work on the Cross. Psalm 23: 2-3, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28-30

  2. His Protection. Psalm 23:4-5

    A. He Directs us. Psalm 23:4 We need Christ to direct us on His path.

    B. He Corrects us. Psalm 23:4 The Good Shepherd comes after us and corrects us which in the end brings us comfort.

    C. He Defends us. Psalm 23:4, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep..." John 10:11-15

  3. His Presence. Psalm 23:5-6

    A. Anointed. Psalm 23:5-6 If we have trusted Christ He has anointed us with the Holy Spirit.

    B. Adopted. Psalm 23:6, 4, We are adopted by God if we are part of His family. "...In the same way, it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones perish." Matthew 18:12-14
