The Calling

This passage introduces the topic of vocation or calling (11x). God calls to His people and they come to life – His word makes alive. As Eugene Peterson wrote, "Personal address… is God's primary form of speech." TODAY'S episode (the calling of Samuel) is a unique experience as God breaks the silence AND this is also the experience of every person who comes to know God. We're going to ask (gently and beneficially): Is it YOUR experience? Have you heard the Voice of God? What does it mean to be called by God and to live as a called person? Let's look at:
