12 - 5 Keys to a Biblical Response to Apostasy: No Tolerance, No Neutrality

365

There are four possible outcomes when believers confront false teaching in the church:

1 - The accused individual is found not guilty of false teaching, on solid Biblical grounds.

2 - The person is found guilty of false teaching, realizes his error, repents, and the church restores him to fellowship and service.

3 - The person is found guilty, refuses to acknowledge his sin and repent, and the church takes the Biblical step of putting the false teacher out of the church.

4 - The false teacher refuses to repent, but the church responds in an ungodly manner by refusing to take action; or worse yet, the church actively protects the heretic and allows his false teaching to gain a stronger foothold and to spread.

What does God's Word tell you to do in each of these situations? That's our focus as we continue our series, Christ Above All: Studies in Colossians.
