A Kingdom Formed by a Death

407 ( 97 | 310 )

The kingdoms of this world come and go under the directing hand of "the God who made the world and everything in it", yet every earthly 'king' and his subjects often live under the delusion that their kingdom will be the greatest and most enduring of all time. The eternal Kingdom of God has been established in Christ, who reigns over all in the name of his Father, yet this kingdom has not been set up through a display of political prowess or military might; rather it is through the humble self-giving sacrifice of the Lamb that the ruler of this world has been cast out, and "the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ".

'It is through an event that this world calls weak, shameful, even laughable, that we can be sure of receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Knowing this has immense implications for us who are now citizens of this Kingdom, and joint heirs with Jesus. There is no place for arrogant triumphalism, self service, or smugness - only joyful love, humility and service to Him who died and rose for us.
