Friday 9-11

On 9-11 as we watched the terrorist attacks on a civilian population America faced a crisis. The action we took in the aftermath revealed our true commitment to our core principles and our level of true fidelity to God. In spite of all the “In God we trust” bumper-stickers that were placed on bumpers, America instead placed their trust in a strong military and in a centralized government. It has been said never let a good crisis go to waste, that is exploit the unsettled emotions of the moment to get accomplished that which may be impossible to get accomplished when there is no perceived imminent threat. In crisis the righteous turn toward their sovereign creator, the unrighteous turn elsewhere. Perhaps that is why the unrighteous are regularly inventing crisis after crisis. So far this year we have learned of the global warming crisis, the swine flu crisis, the credit in the markets crisis , the state budget shortfall crisis, the home foreclosure crisis and the year is not over yet. Perhaps the only real crisis is the lack of fear of God.
