Security at the Cross

211

The fourth main section of the chapter advances the dominant theme of the assurance of salvation. These verses focus on the issue of the believer's security as being the result of divine activity. There is no way to account for salvation apart from the work of the Holy Trinity, and in this section, we encounter the operation of God's decree before time began. The comfort of the famous 28th verse rests on the strong succession of divine actions in the verses that follow. All of those actions derive their ultimate exposition from the work of Christ on the cross.
