Prepared to Suffer

One of the most important jobs of the church is to prepare God's people for times of suffering. Because we live in a world filled with sinners, even living a righteous life by the power of the Holy Spirit will often lead to suffering unjustly. And it is in times of suffering that Peter suggests we become prepared to answer questions about our faith and hope, all while seeking to please God even when persecuted.
