The Second Commandment

There is a distinct difference between the first and second commandment. The first declares that there is one God. The second is commandment not to worship the One true God through a graven image. It deals with how we worship Him. It deals with God's revelation of Himself to us. We are to worship Him in spirit and in truth, not through an image. The idea is that God and our conception of Him may not be a fabrication of our mind, but conceived of how He is revealed in His Word not limiting Him. If we violate this commandment, He will visit this sin upon our generations.
