REHOBOAM’S COUNTERFEIT KINGDOM
Text: 2 Chron. 11:5 - 12:16
Summary: King Rehoboam, despite his apparent abilities in the art of governance, was not a successful king of Judah because he did not strengthen himself in the Lord his God.
I. Rehoboam’s Successes.
A. He Strengthened His Defenses (11:5 – 12).
B. He Strengthened His Religion (11:13-17).
C. He Strengthened His Governance, 2 Chr. 11:18-23.
II. Rehoboam’s Failures.
A. His Defenses were a Failure (12:2-9).
B. His Religion was a Façade, 1 Ki 14:22-24.
C. His House was in Spiritual Decline. (12:1, 12-16).
Principle: “Unless the Lord builds the house, they who build it labor in vain.”
