Walking in the Light

In 1 John 1:5-10, John presents 5 conditions produced by the reality that God is light without any darkness (v. 5).

I. If we say we fellowship with God while we actually walk in darkness (v. 6a) . . .

A. then we lie and (v. 6b).

B. then we don't do truth (v. 6c).

II. If we walk in the light, where God is (v. 7a) . . .

A. then we have fellowship each other (v. 7b).

B. then we are cleansed from all sin (v. 7c).

III. If we say we have no sin (v. 8a) . . .

A. then we deceive ourselves (v. 8b).

B. then we have no truth in us (v. 8c).

IV. If we confess our sins (v. 9a) . . .

A. then God is faithful and just to forgive our sins (v. 9b).

B. then God will cleanse us from all unrighteousness (v. 9c).

V. If we say we have not sinned (v. 10a) . . .

A. then we make God a liar (v. 10b).

B. then His word is not in us (v. 10c).
