After being commissioned as a prophet and appointed as a ruling judge over Israel, Samuel begins the fulfillment of his final role: anointing a king. This sermon confirms that God acts to appoint the mediator for His people that He has chosen for His own purposes and ends. In this, as in all things, can be seen God’s gracious care for his people despite their great sin.
