Jesus Recommissions His Disciples Part 6: Be Faithful to the End cont

Today’s message is titled “Jesus Recommissions His Disciples – Part 6 – ‘Be Faithful to the End’” and is based on John 21:20-25. It is the final message in our current exposition of John’s gospel account.

In the last message, we saw how John was to be faithful to the end by continuing to abide in the love of Christ. In today’s message we will see how to be faithful by abiding in the words of Christ. We mean by that, not just the “red letters”, but the entire Word of God (all scripture is God-breathed).

This was a mark of John’s ministry: abiding in the Word. The fact that John lived so long in the Word of God, that is, years and years of careful study and faithful meditation. The Holy Spirit gives us, in the John’s account, something extraordinary: a penetrating depth of insight into certain areas of the life of Christ that the other gospel writers didn’t live long enough to do.
