Covert Charitable Giving
Series The Sermon on the Mount
62
Having a trumpet is not necessary; you can be a hypocrite without it. Hypocrisy is, by definition, doing something good to impress other people. Hypocrisy is also condemning all sins except the one you're currently engaged in.
Jesus provides us with the antidote to hypocrisy, especially when it comes to charitable giving, by commanding us to give in secret, to please our Father. Do you want His reward? Do you imagine that it will be less worthwhile than the vainglory which is the hypocrite's only reward?
