The appearance of God's Glory
Series Types
The appearance of God's glory is a type or foreshadowing of Christ. In the Old Testament, the glory of God settled upon His people because it was a temporary glory, but Christ has an eternal glory. Man wants to pervert God's glory and change it into idolatrous things because men are natural idolators. The mind of man cannot conceive that Christ was perfectly God and perfectly man. It took a perfect God-man to save and justify His people. The Lord has revealed Himself in various times and in various ways, but He is infinitely brighter than the prophets. God has blinded the eyes and hardened the heart of the non-elect. What God does with us is for His glory. God had Glory before the foundation of the world. God's glory can be seen in His eternal existence, in His incarnation, in His birth, in His transfiguration, in His person, in His prophecy, in His miracles, in the calling of Paul, in His death and resurrection, in the appearance of the stoning of Stephen, in the praises of His people, in our daily trials, in the hope of the elect and in the cross. God imputed to His elect wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. Salvation was all of God and was accomplished at the cross, the elect glory in the cross and not in man.
