Run devil, run

85

The devil will run. The Bible tells us that there is a formula to make him run or get out of our way. In our text the word 'flee' means to run away or avoid. We have the capabilities to put the devil on the run; so why ain't he running? Why is it he is running toward us instead of away? Because we are not using God's formula. We think we got the formula that produces the right answer "resist the devil, and he will flee", but it fails often. But God's formula is proven to work. We must begin not by resisting but by submitting. To surrender our control, and yes we have some, over to another. The power we have is not a God power, it is our power and it eventually goes away. Once God has shown us how to resist he gives us the strength to resist then we can resist. God wants to lead us on to victory and when we submit victory starts coming we begin resisting (or withstanding) and the devil will start running! But don't give the devil any room. He is like a roach, once you have one soon there is a whole army. Before long they take over; same thing with the devil. So follow God's formula to make the devil run.
