God's Free Will, Not Man's

The leper pled with Christ, "If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean."

He put his finger on the issue that causes a great deal of dispute amongst Believers. Today, all we hear talk of is man's "free will." God has already decided to "try to save" everybody, and now it's all up to man's will!

Indeed, it seems that the only one without any free will left at all is God Himself!

But the leper knew this was all wrong. He knew it wasn't his will, but Christ's will that counted. Christ would decide whether to heal him or not.

The Scriptures teach that man is dead in sin and cannot will to come to Christ. Without God's working in his heart, raising him to life, regenerating him and bestowing on him the faith to believe, man is forever hopeless and lost.

Thus, it is God's will that is important in our salvation, and not the will of man.

The Bible teaches that God decides whom He will redeem, whom He will have mercy upon, and that His decision is eternal and cannot be overthrown. He works all things according to HIS good pleasure!

His longsuffering conduct toward the world is to the end that all of His elect will be gathered unto Himself.

How then can a sinner know whether it is in God's will to save him? The Scripture says, Come to Christ and you will have your answer. The Lord Jesus will never cast out one who comes to Him in faith!

Indeed, no man can come to Christ except the Father draw him.

Thus, the grace and mercy and will of God to save a man is primarily exhibited to him in that he comes to the Savior, for Christ receives all who come to Him!

His will to save lost men is proved by the sacrifice of His Son! Only trust Him now!
