The Climax of the Gospel

33

Introduction

The central focus of the gospel is on the death and resurrection of Christ for our sins and salvation. The potency of the Gospel is found in the power of Christ. And this effectiveness is revealed through two foundational elements.

I. The power of His death (“Christ died for our sins...”)

a. His perfect holiness (I John 3:4-5)

b. His sacrificial obedience (Phil. 2:8)

II. The power of His life (vs. 4)

a. The necessity of His resurrection (Romans 8:2)

b. The power of His resurrection (Romans 8:11)

c. The effect of His resurrection (Romans 4:25)

Conclusion
That is the gospel. These are the facts. There is no gospel apart from these 2 facts. Jesus died for you and for me; he was buried and rose again. That is gospel. That is great news! We should live a life that is always reflecting on this good news. If the Gospel has become just another story, I beg you, look back to the cross and see the real power of Christ.
