The Institution of the Table of the Lord

It has been the custom of the Christian church for many centuries, if not millennia, to institute, that is, to formally commence the celebration of the Lord's Table by the reading of the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11. In these words of institution we hear the words of Christ Himself, quoted by the Apostle. But lest we hear them, and lack understanding of all that is in them, we will miss out on their full truth and glory, and miss the fullest blessing that Christ intends us to receive at His table:
