The Goal of Reconciliation

Why does God reconcile sinners to Himself through the work of Christ on the cross? He does this, not only to save them from hell, but also to make them holy and righteous. The goal of this is that Christ might present to Himself, on the last day, a bride, a Church that is spiritually spotless and pure.
