Christian Scientists are told that Jesus' ministry consisted of correcting erroneous beliefs. “Jesus cast out devils, mediating between what is and is not until a perfect consciousness is obtained. He healed disease as He healed sin; He treated them both, not as in or of matter, but as mortal beliefs to be exterminated.” No and Yes 40-41. If that is true, then he failed at his mission, because two thousand years later this planet still believes in the illusion of death pain and suffering. Jesus did not come to teach Christian Science. He came to seek and to save that which had been lost. He came to take the punishment that we deserve, by dying the cruelest death, and he succeeded.
Jesus' death was not real!
Mary Baker Eddy taught in Science and Health that Jesus death was not real. His death was only apparent. "Our Master fully and finally demonstrated divine Science in his victory over death and the grave . . . Jesus' students, not sufficiently advanced to understand fully their Master's triumph, did not perform many wonderful works until they saw Him after His crucifixion and learned that He did not die." S&H 45:350-351. Christian Science takes it further by saying “Jesus did not really die on the cross. He was not God in flesh. He made no atonement in shedding His blood” S&H, 25:6.
The scriptures are clear. Christ did die on the cross. There are too many scriptures to quote to prove this point. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.
