II. DOCTRINAL & DEVOTIONAL ASSENT
v1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.
Literally: "And Jacob lifted up his feet, and he walked the land of the sons of the east."

a. After the vision of ch.28; after receiving promise from God
b. Salvation unto newness of life
i. Immediate evidence: ch.28
ii. Continued evidence: ch.29 - "lifted up his feet and walked"
a. After the Lord's promise (ch.28), Jacob lifted Jas 4:10
i. Now on His journey, Jacob lifts his feet(faith)
ii. Faith in the promise of God Nu 6:24-26
iii. Joy from the blessing from God
iv. Peace by the reconciliation in God - "lifted up his feet and walked"

- Have we been lifted up, having exalted Christ in life? Lk 9:26
- Are you trusting in His promises? (true faith) Gen 15:6; Rom 4
- Do you rejoice in the blessing of His presence? Matt 28:20
- Are you comforted by Christ's reconciling peace? Rom 5:1-5
- Is the gospel your precious possession, walking around with its truth, its blessing, and its certainty? 1 Tim 1:11
- Do you recognize change of behavior, one that pleases Christ? Rom 14:23
