The Gospel at the Well

True worship is vital. God's goal in redemption is to create a company of true worshippers. A company may be saved, but they are still saved one by one. His hour is the hour of creating true worshipers, even from the Samaritans that the Jews despised. There is much in this portion of Scripture to instruct us in seeking souls.

1. The freeness of the gospel
   No matter the background of individuals, the Lord is desirous to bring them to himself. This woman comes but he initiates the encounter. We must be prepared to speak to people. The Lord converses with a Samaritan and a woman. This was not the norm. Christ wanted her saved and converted. The gospel is offered to all men without distinction. It is not that you must be like this, this, and this and then you can hear the gospel. We are not God's insurance agents with the right to write others off.

2. The focus of the gospel
   The focus is the glory of God, but God glorifies himself as he saves sinners. The Lord performs open heart surgery. He takes the scalpel of truth and opens up her heart so she can see her true need. Sin blinds the sinner to the truth that this world cannot satisfy. The Lord shows her immorality. The immorality of this woman is clear for all to see. Your immorality may be hidden. He shows her the idolatry she has. You have to recognize that you are an idolater if you don't worship he true God.

3. The fullness of the gospel
   The Lord proclaims himself to be the solution to her problems. She met this man as a weary traveler looking for water, yet she found the true and omniscient God. Christ created a thirst for peace, pardon, provision, and a person who could give her the waters of life eternal
